Baker Under Fire

The honeymoon is long over.
The media questions his every move.
The fans are starved for a winner.

Is Dusty's job finally on the line this season?

Rainy Day Reading

Thanks to yesterday's rainout, I was able to catch up on some light reading. Seriously though, I can think of about 9 million reasons why Greg Maddux should retire after this season. Maybe he can convince others to join him.

Magic Dust

Breaking News: Injured Cubs SS Nomar Garciaparra could be back as early as two days from now. Drawing from his wealth of experience in mystical machinations, manager Dusty Baker has hatched a plan to magically saw off Nomar's lower body and replace it with Jason Dubois'.

Asked about the slight of hand, Baker said, "We need Nomar badly plus I want to change the impression that I don't like playing rookies."

Returned to Sender

In a couple of unsuccessful spring experiments, both INF Dave Hansen and RP Stephen Randolph have been sent packing by the Cubs. I was rooting for Hansen too, but Jose Macias seems to have too much MoJo for Hendry and Dusty to give him up.

PS Just for a change of pace, I thought we'd go with a real story for once since everyday is April Fool's Day on this blog anyway.
